Herbal remedies and witchdoctor practice are no longer accepted as science, we now have unparalleled knowledge and clarity about the human anatomy. Middle age killers are now modern day annoyances, few without treatment.

Wikipedia’s triumph and the rise of crowdsourcing

Wikipedia, the fifth highest rated website in the world, came under fire when Felipe Ortega, from a University in Madrid, claimed that it had lost 49,000 editors in the first three months of 2009. Just months after it had publically called for thousands of volunteer editors, this appeared to spell the end of the crowd sourcing phenomenon.

Gravesendian fulfils dream

It’s a Saturday morning in the market café in Gravesend. All around, traders are selling their wares and services, clearly audible through the cracks in the walls of the shack-like café. I sit at a table soaking up the culture, as my interviewee brings over my cup of coffee. His name is Lee Frost, and he’s here to tell me about his new band Artisian, who are about to support the world-class Anaal Nathrankh on tour.

Flowing out of the bottle, it glistens in the light. Sparkling like the purest diamond, yet modest and guilt-free. A bottle of water is regarded by many to be one of the healthiest things to drink. Free of artificial colourings and preservatives, it beats down many of its bottled rivals. Chic and sophisticated, it is also one of the cheapest fashion accessories. So why, in recent years, has it provoked so much furore from environmentalists?

District 9: Alas, a sci-fi that neither claims nor aims to redefine the genre
